Latin name: Scilla. The squill is an herbaceous perennial reaching 7 sm. It has several basal, grass-like leaves 2 sm wide and 5 sm long. The blooms are usually deep blue, occasionally white, 3-4 cm wide, and usually 5 or more in a terminal spike. The squill is abundant in grassy slopes and meadows in rather dry sites at low to middle elevations. It blooms in the spring and in the summer.
